My Quilts - 2022
Flamingo Ballet
2022 This mandala started at Quilting Mayhem in Snohomish when I walked in the door. There was the flamingo fabric.I slowly looked at all the other fabric in the store because I am not fond of pink, but I just kept coming back to the flamingos. Finally I decided since the flamingos were mirror image it must be time for me to do pink. 49.5"x49.5" SOLD |
My Klimpt Quilt
2022 This began as a panel with all the companion fabric. Should be quick and easy I thought. But it is not symmetrical so I decided to cut it so that it looks like she is being seen through a window. Then the problem becomes the size of the mullions needed to avoid distorting the woman. I added extra batt to her face and arms so that they stand out from the rest. It is never easy. 48"x60' |
Women Collecting Bush Food
2022 Women Collecting Bush Food started with an Australian fabric that was another symmetrical mirror image. I had recently purchased a new diamond shaped ruler that I wanted to try and this is what happened. I felt the need to break the line between the central hexagon and the busy background and was able to find the huge ricrac to serve that purpose. 42"x42" |
Moon Cranes
2022 What began as a panel became a challenge to find the appropriate border that fit exactly. This required adding the right size inner borders to make the pieced border end up a multiple of four inches vertically and horizontally. The little red square in each block is a three dimensional piece of fabric inserted in the blocks' seams. After much hassle I finally met the challenge. 32”x52" |
