My Quilts - 1990 to 1999

Beckett's Baltimore
1994
In 1990, some of us in the Thursday Quilters decided to use Elly Sienkiewicz's books to appliqué a block a month which would give us a Baltimore Album quilt top in a year and improve our needle turn applique skills. The "Lobster" block in the middle of the second row is a traditional block I had wanted to do for many years but didn't feel up to until this project. The pot of flowers in the middle of the top row is the only original block in the quilt. The pot is formed from the shape rejected from the lobster block.

Eccentric Star
1998
For this quilt, I made one hundred 12" wool blocks. The dark strips are slightly wider than the light ones so the Pendleton wool red stars in each block are off-center. Then I presented my geek husband, Greg, with a quilt computer program and he came up with this unique block arrangement that I have never seen before or since. We won Best Large Quilt at the Quilter's Anonymous Show in 1998.
